I had the chance to visit the Expo site this June. This event had been a constant topic of discussion even before its opening, but actually being there, I was surprised by how much more crowded and lively it was than I’d imagined. Walking among the streams of people heading toward the various country pavilions felt like being swept up in a mix of excitement from all around the world.
What stood out even more was the heat. I started sweating just from standing still, and the very first place I headed after entering was a shaved-ice shop. I was also amazed at how well-developed the reclaimed land had become.
Everywhere I went, the lines were incredibly long, so in the end I wasn’t able to get into a single pavilion. Since I probably won’t be able to go to the next Expo, I kind of regret not seeing even one pavilion. Then again, if I had gone in, I might’ve just ended up thinking, “Oh… that’s it?”
