It’s Souiki-kai Representative Director, Associate Professor Toru Terada from the Department of Natural Environmental studies. How has your new year been so far? It’s high time for thesis submission, so I think both students and teachers must have been busy. COVID-19 still seems to be spreading, but I believe that this year will be a year for society to explore ways to live with COVID-19. I expect that academic and other exchanges at the Kashiwa Campus will be more active this year.
Some of you may have attended a year-end party for the first time in several years. I also attended the year-end party of my former laboratory (Laboratory of Natural Environment Formation, Department of Natural Environmental Studies), and was able to chat with my fellow alumni for the first time in a long while. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce some amazing achievements from one of the fellow alumni. Mr. Haruki Ohsawa, a 2008 graduate of the Department of Natural Environment studies, is currently the president of “OpenWork Inc.” which provides employment support services.
At the year-end party, he was also busy needing to go to different rounds of drinks like an executive of a company. He told us that his company has recently been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s JASDAQ Growth market and has published a book introducing the company from Toyo Keizai Inc. I look forward to his future development.

Throughout 25 years after GSFS’s founding, more alumni have been active in the society. It would be great if we, Souiki-kai, could Introduce different alumni, and invite them to give talks at Kashiwa campus, to strengthen their bonds with current GSFS students.
