On October 12th, after a hiatus of four years, GSFS hosted a welcome party for new students (a barbecue event), where students and staff from the Kashiwa Campus gathered together. With good weather, over 500 people participated at the recreational square of the Kashiwa Campus, and the event ended on a high note.
As a member of the organizing committee, my lab was assigned the drink duty. We worked diligently on setting up the venue and particularly the drink station. The barbecue event after such a long time turned into a lively affair, almost like venting pent-up frustrations, and we sold a ridiculous quantity of drinks. There have been voices expressing insufficient face-to-face communication, I once again contemplated the importance of occasions where people from different fields gather to share time and enjoy a meal together, just as the Kashiwa Campus embodies. It was an event that put smiles on everyone’s faces. To the organizing committee, all the staff and students who participated and helped, and members of the Souiki-kai Student Committee, thank you very much for all the hard work.
From autumn to the year-end, amidst research, there were conference presentations, business trips, thesis evaluations, and gatherings, making life busy. Yet, I feel a renewed sense of returning to normalcy without succumbing to infections. I have a habit of walking silently whilst lost in my own thoughts when being busy. But wherever I look ahead, the rich nature, urban beauty, and the ever-changing seasons, gives me motivation and inspiration. I aim to maintain a healthy state-of-mind, and continue my research without forgetting my original aspirations.
